I am the type of person who loves to attend concerts, gigs, festivals etc. Mainly because i think that live music has a great effect on people.
I truly believe that rap music live is dope. There is nothing better then watching an amazing rapper pour his lyrics out right in front of you. However i also think that Hip-Hop artist do not get enough credit for their live performances unless they are a major artist.
After seeing Jay-Z live in October of 2013, my whole opinion and concepts of live rap concerts changed.
Before i believed that unless rappers performed in a more intimate setting, they would not give a fulfilling after effect to their audience. I think the opposite now. I now believe that rappers who are highly rated and loved should be able to sell out arenas like singers do.
Nas is a great example of this. Everyone loves Nas, i, myself loves Nas, he is classed as one of the best, however he is no where near able to sell out the o2 arena like Jay-Z or Kanye does. My question is .. Why is this happening? How come people are not spending money to see Nas but they do for other great rappers like Drake, Jay-Z and Kanye? He is a real Hip-Hop artist and he also gives a great performance.
This needs to change.
