Hey all!
So yesterday i went into HMV to have a browse. Until it came to my attention that the prices of some legendary Hip-Hop albums are crazy cheap.
Now i'm all for a good bargain but to see that Reasonable Doubt (my personal favourite) was priced at only £2.99!!! ....Thats crazy to me!
No matter how old the album is, why should it lose its value?
Most 'old' things keep their value, whilst gaining more as they get older. Why can't this happen with albums too?
And i'm not just being biased because it's Jay-z and everyone knows i love Jay-z but even Nas' 'Illmatic' and Biggie's 'Ready To Die' albums were only priced at around £3-4.
I guess that this is all good for people who don't buy much albums or like to spend much money on albums, physical copies especially, and it's understandable that albums are rarely brought anymore due to privacy etc.
However i will believe that classic albums should definitely keep their value.
What do you think?

See It Live
How effective is live music?
I am the type of person who loves to attend concerts, gigs, festivals etc. Mainly because i think that live music has a great effect on people.
I truly believe that rap music live is dope. There is nothing better then watching an amazing rapper pour his lyrics out right in front of you. However i also think that Hip-Hop artist do not get enough credit for their live performances unless they are a major artist.
After seeing Jay-Z live in October of 2013, my whole opinion and concepts of live rap concerts changed.
Before i believed that unless rappers performed in a more intimate setting, they would not give a fulfilling after effect to their audience. I think the opposite now. I now believe that rappers who are highly rated and loved should be able to sell out arenas like singers do.
Nas is a great example of this. Everyone loves Nas, i, myself loves Nas, he is classed as one of the best, however he is no where near able to sell out the o2 arena like Jay-Z or Kanye does. My question is .. Why is this happening? How come people are not spending money to see Nas but they do for other great rappers like Drake, Jay-Z and Kanye? He is a real Hip-Hop artist and he also gives a great performance.
This needs to change.

Do For Love
Good Morning!
As soon as i woke up this morning, the first song that i thought of and wanted to listen to was;'2pac- Do For Love'.
I remember, i used to hear this song when i was younger and i always liked it. But now as i have got older it means much more to me.
2pac's honesty about relationships is so relatable for men whilst also giving women a clear explanation about some of the situations men put them in and through.
So always keep in mind .. "What you won't do, do for love."
Happy Sunday

What happened to positive Hip-Hop?
Good Afternoon,
Do you hear much of positive Hip-hop music anymore?
It is slowly becoming rare to the Hip-Hop junkies ear. Songs like 'Feel that way' by Blakalicious and 'Sky is the limit' by Biggie, are hard to find nowadays.
I'm a 19 year old girl, studying at university and i need something to inspire me once in a while. Giving props where props are due, Wale's 'Ambitious Girl' always gives me that little extra push to finish writing a long ass essay about some sort of media communications. However..
What i'm saying is, back in the day, way way before i was even thought of, Hip-hop lovers were inspired by positive music. Hip-Hop changed many days, lives or states of minds, for the better. This makes me wonder how many people can turn on the radio right now, listen to the next Hip-Hop track and say;"Wow, that shit was inspiring"

So when did i fall in love with Hip-Hop?
Today i watched 'Brown Sugar' one of my favourite movies. What the crazy thing is, is that every single time i watch Brown Sugar i seem to gain the same inspiring feeling. There is no doubt about my love and enjoyment of music, but somehow the love that i have for the Hip-Hop genre creates a whole different feeling inside of me. You know that feeling that you get after your first kiss, yep, its exactly the same as that. Now your probably thinking, how on earth does listening to Hip-Hop feel like a first kiss? Lol, well lets just say when i hear the sounds of real Hip-Hop music, my stomach begins to gain some serious butterflies.
However the real question here is .. When did i fall in love with Hip-Hop?
"You used to hold me, told me that i was the best, anything i want in this world i could possess, all that made me want it is all that i could get it"
The lyrics in this song will forever be relevant, not only for me but for many other people, not only do they inspire you but they allow you to understand that it is okay to make mistakes and have regrets but always know that you can do better.
This will message will stay with me forever.
